Seeing the City

Sunday grillin.

A happy street.

Cebu streets.

A place where my students have lived.

Dried fish.

Tight quarters.

People of Cebu.

Cooking together.

People cooking in Cebu.

Tangled power lines, hanging laundry, a petty cab, a restaurant, and a rooster.

Streets of Cebu.

Skylines in Cebu.

This place amazes me. It's absolutely beautiful, loud, dirty, and generally confusing. Thanks for letting me share some non-food stuff as I get used to this new life.

Speaking of food, Wednesday's post is killing me in the most delicious way. CAN'T. WAIT.

Not yet… but hopefully after we’ve gotten settled a little more we will be able to do some bopping around to other islands!

So glad you shared. For those of us who will never travel to places like Cebu, it is always an awakening to one’s mind that people still live like this. Penny De Los Santos, Food Photographer for Saveur and National Geographic would appreciate these photos as part of “Food Culture”. You’re showing us how the people of Cebu cook. Later…When you’re ready to step out of your comfort zone, perhaps getting with people and letting them cook while you photograph, will benefit you more in Cebu’s culture.
    Good story. Awaiting more.

I think you mean “pedicab”, not petty cab. Pedi meaning it’s a cab attached to a bike which is pedaled. Heh.

Hello Lindsay! I was looking for food bloggers in Cebu Philippines, so that’s how I stumbled upon your blog. I’m still about to look around. Just dropping you a little side note.
